EXCERPT

Blackness surrounded him, its endless pools of ink swallowing him whole. He couldn’t see his hand in front of his face, but he felt the terror seeping through his skin, past his bones and making its way down to his very soul.

James knew he was in the throes of one of his nightmares again. He could never make out a thing, just knew the feeling it left him with.

He tried to make himself wake up, but couldn’t find his way out. The feeling that someone was coming for him caused panic to swell and his heart to accelerate, threatening to break free from his chest.

Not knowing what was coming, fear lacerating his insides, James started to run blindly. In his bed, his feet kicked out wildly, tangling in the linens and ratcheting up his terror, because to James, he was trapped.

His breathing labored and coming in short, sharp bursts, James cried out at the same time his body bolted upright in the bed. Sweat beaded on his brow and dampened his skin, his clothes suctioned to his body uncomfortably. He was clammy and winded, shaken, but he already felt better for knowing he was free from that awful feeling of suffocating terror that had threatened to overtake him just moments ago.

Scrubbing his hands down his face, James breathed deeply, hanging his head to his chest while his body calmed. As his adrenalin levels normalized, and he began to feel more like himself, James gave a final sigh of relief. Stabbing his fingers through his hair, he was readying himself to try to go back to sleep when he looked up and choked on his breath.

His entire body went rigid in an instant. His breathing, his heartbeat. Everything ceased to work. In the next instant James threw himself back against his headboard, fear gripping him once again.

He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He would chance rubbing his eyes to be sure his vision was true, only he was too frightened of what he would find once he opened them again.

My review:

Do you believe that one video could change someone’s life?

Rachel is ordinary girl in twenty and something, she is jobless and forced to live with her parents. Back in her room from her childhood where are all her memories , good and bad, she lived her life without excitement. One day Rachel meet Mick Sullivan, he is  celebrity actor and musician. She help him with shopping and in return he gifted her coffee machine and record one video with him and Rachel as proof that she really meet him. Excited Rachel shows that video to her best friend Janna. Jenna and Rachel was friends since their childhood. Jenna post that video on Internet. For few days Rachel will read some unpleasant comments from some girl obsessed with Mick Sullivan. Then Rachel starts to find some handwritten messages in her mailbox. Those messages containing threats really scares Rachel, but her life became nightmare when she founded her cat dead.

When I got this book I thought that it is average book, but I was wrong. This is not avarage book, how I turn the pages I was liked more and more. Now I know that I was really wrong.
The plot is interesting, the author shows two stories, maybe three, one is Rachel’s story, the other one is to some girl(I know who she is, but I couldn’t tell you) and third is about Mick Sullivan. Two very different  lives will crossed in one point, actually in one third life. One innocent girl, one very bad, psiho girl and one celebrity guy will became part of one suspense and intriguing story- this story written by Denise Webb.

Rachel is girl as like and respect in real life. Maybe in the beginning Rachel was not strong woman character as I used to read, but till the end she was become very brave and strong young woman.
Mick Sullivan is actor and musician. He is typical celebrity guy, alcohol and girls are his deadly sins. But he was that kind of guy in his past, now he is more then that he is human and he has feeling as others, he is careful and hard working man. His past will became his nightmare and he had no other choice but to deal with it everyday.
The girl that will bring together Rachel and Mick is very well described character, sick and dangerous she is ticking bomb. It was interesting her sessions with her psychotherapist.

In art gallery is found one dead man hung up as sculpture on the pedestal.Man in his hand holds one business card to the artist who makes statue which was set on that pedestal. Dane was in Homicide Department many years and this first time to see that kind of murder. Investigation starts and Dane finds that dead man was ex boyfriend to Simone.
       Why he was killed?
Why he was found in Simone’s business card?

It was interesting reading this book, cause I’m used to read chick-lit and romance, and especially in this time of year before Christmas I like to read Christmas books, but this was refreshing reading this crime book.
I like to watch CSI series and this is really it.Also I like it that the author is keep to the theme and  suspense is very intensive that keep me reading till the end.

My review:

Indigo is a mysterious and good looking girl. She is student, she tries to make project about her life with videos and pictures, but that is difficult for her because she has new life…and the ghosts from her past appears.
Jude is nice, dedicate and kind of nerd guy, but very likable. He works in University Tech Department. Accidentally or not he became a computer hacker.
They meet and something begins to happen … love, maybe…
His present activity bring back her past and both of them are in danger. Every dark stain of her past is revealed, and she just wanted to escape from her past, to forget.
Interesting story and likable characters makes me read this book with pleasure and every second of reading was like I was there in the book.
As I said, I like Indigo and Jude very much. They are very good described and their actions are real and reasoned. In the beginning when I discovered Indigo’s secrets I do not like her much, but when I thought well that her actions were the result of unreasonable decisions to other people.

Author Ian Fox continues to surprise readers with his mysterious, intriguing plots that captivate you from the very first page and leave you stunned long after you’ve read the book to the end.

My review:

One laboratory is arranged with wooden tables were the various instruments and gadgets essential to experiments. One man a scientist and neurosurgeon Dr.Patterson he is truing to make a vaccine for antiaging. Why he would make this vaccine?
Why he does this for money or publicity?
The answer is: money.
Dr.Patterson is a dedicated scientist, but he doesn’t seems to like good person, because he chiding his wife and he making something unnatural like vaccine for long life. Not that I am against antiaging vaccine or something similar, I just don’t understand that need to convert natural processes. I think if those processes converted that will cause some anomalies in nature or inside human bodies. However, in the middle of events I was sorry for Dr.Patterson, because his life became a nightmare.
It is a great thiller with all those elements like: murder, affairs, greed.
