    From Amazon:
Dr. Simon Patterson is a successful and well-respected neurosurgeon at Central Hospital in the town of Medford. Married, though without children, he keeps himself so busy that one day is not much different from another. Until, that is, he saves the life of the powerful mobster Carlo Vucci.
At a dinner in honor of Dr. Patterson, Carlo Vucci introduces him to his alluring wife Christine. Simon is entranced by her beauty.
Three weeks later, Christine shows up at the hospital, complaining of terrible headaches. Dr. Patterson offers to help her, but Christine did not come to see him just because of her headaches. A series of shocking events follow that turn Dr. Patterson’s life into a nightmare. Among other things, he finds himself in court being accused of murder in the first degree …

Author Ian Fox continues to surprise readers with his mysterious, intriguing plots that captivate you from the very first page and leave you stunned long after you’ve read the book to the end.

My review:

One laboratory is arranged with wooden tables were the various instruments and gadgets essential to experiments. One man a scientist and neurosurgeon Dr.Patterson he is truing to make a vaccine for antiaging. Why he would make this vaccine?
Why he does this for money or publicity?
The answer is: money.
Dr.Patterson is a dedicated scientist, but he doesn’t seems to like good person, because he chiding his wife and he making something unnatural like vaccine for long life. Not that I am against antiaging vaccine or something similar, I just don’t understand that need to convert natural processes. I think if those processes converted that will cause some anomalies in nature or inside human bodies. However, in the middle of events I was sorry for Dr.Patterson, because his life became a nightmare.
It is a great thiller with all those elements like: murder, affairs, greed.

Book2Movie Challenge 2012 #1

Book: High Fidelity

Author: Nick Hornby
Genre: Fiction, Romance

Movie: High Fidelity

Year: 2000
Genre: Drama ,Romance, Comedy
  Form Goodreads:
It has been said often enough that baby boomers are a television generation, but the very funny novel High Fidelity reminds that in a way they are the record-album generation as well. This funny novel is obsessed with music; Hornby’s narrator is an early-thirtysomething English guy who runs a London record store. He sells albums recorded the old-fashioned way–on vinyl–and is having a tough time making other transitions as well, specifically adulthood. The book is in one sense a love story, both sweet and interesting; most entertaining, though, are the hilarious arguments over arcane matters of pop music.

Hornby’s first novel, an international bestseller and instantly recognized by critics and readers alike as a classic, helps to explain men to women, and men to men. Rob is good on music: he owns a small record shop and has strong views on what’s decent and what isn’t. But he’s much less good on relationships. In fact, he’s not at all sure that he wants to commit himself to anyone. So it’s hardly surprising that his girlfriend decides that enough is enough.

 My review:
Rob is ordinary man, he own and work in music-shop. He loves music. When Lora, his girlfriend left him he start to thinking about his love life and his ex girlfriends
What was wrong with him?
Which is the reason that every girl lefts him?
He remembers for past girl friends and how they left him and why. However, when he finds that Lora has new boyfriend his mind is occupy with that.
About Rob like character: He is good man; he does not know what he wants in his life. He is lost in his life.
Lora is confused, but she decides to leave him after spending many things with him. Lora wants to make Rob to act, to do something in his life.
My opinion for this book is:

From IMDB:
Rob, a record store owner and compulsive list maker, recounts his top five breakups, including the one in progress.
My thoughts:
In the movie, I do not like that Rob talks to cameras. When he does that, it seems to me like I don’t watching movie, but some monologue. In the movie acting some very popular actors, like:Catherine Zeta Jones, John Cusack, Tim Robbins. Characters from the book are well presented in the movie just like I imagined them even better. The all story from the book is great adapted with no missing thing.
My opinion for this movies is:

Which means that I liked more the movie.

This sleepy southern town just isn’t big enough for the mischievous adventures of Madison Miller. From her affinity for men with tattoos to her disdain for spiritual matters, she appears to be a hopeless case. But one day she will meet someone who will change her life forever.

My review:

Confessions of a one lost soul or almost lost.Tales of a woman retold under the tablecloth of men’s bed. Madison is a young woman who is with free spirit and freely refers to her sexual life. Without hair on her tongue, she talks about everything, and how she has became such a bitch. She is absolutely sex Goddess; she is hot, sexy, rebellious women. She really tells us all naughty behaviours. It looks like she is born to be wild and rebellious. She is a hilarious heroine. She tells what not to do.
Every teenage girl must read this book, because is funny and educational, it teach how may ruin a life in one seconde.
Madison wants to date with different men, but all those men are assholes, not perfect. All that night’s adventures will brings her in mat position-no married with a child. Is there Mr. Perfect for Madison?
When I read this book I laugh, then I cry, then again I laugh. So serious situation presented on a unique funny way.

My review:
Wow! This book makes me completely out of myself.
It’s a great story very well developed with no missing thing.
It is about George (short from Georgina) 34 years old caterer, a very successful and promising. She lives a coy life without relationships and she so dedicated to her caterer firm. George have employee Helen, who is her friend too.
Helen is a modest woman, quite and dedicated to her work.
Helen’s daughter Marisa is young girl, very hilarious and chatty. I have to admit I laugh so much to Marisa “acts”.
George lives her quite life-working ,but when she have a job to catering parties to charming star Quinn Black everything go up side down in her life.
Past and future is going to mixtures in one point. Life, love and so missed things, which must been happened again.
And… Quinn is so charming and adorable men, who every woman would love to him.
He is dream for every women and girl in the world.
Whole story is great like fairy tale. There are romantic moments between George and Quinn, which are so perfectly described. Mandy makes great job to write this story like its happened in real life.

The Lyrical Foxfire Tour:Review and Interview with the Author

This is the day for:

The Lyrical Foxfire Tour:Review and Interview with the Author

First of all big, big thanks  to Alexandra Lanc for ARC(this is my very first ARC) “Lyrics of the heart”

Title:Lyrics of the Heart
Author: Alexandra Lanc

 From Goodreads:

Kristi’s life falls apart the day that she wakes up to find that her father has been in a tragic accident. And with the doctors uncertain of her father’s future, Kristi struggles to pick up the pieces and answer the ultimate question: how do you continue to live when the one you love most may never wake up again?

In this short novella, author Alexandra Lanc fuses the art of the short story and the poem to bring together a heart-breaking tale of the events that change our lives, and the unexpected miracles that can forever alter them.

My review:
Kristy is a young girl her life is a perfect, but one day when she awake up …
Kristy’s father is in Hospital he had accident. Kristy is devastated, how this happened and why!? Her father got home late, she didn’t get to tell him good night or that she loves him.
    What she suppose to do?
I love Kristy from the beginning of this novella. She is a strong, she hesitates to cry or to run and back again to Hospital. Kristy think: how to survey this chaos in her life and back in normal again, how to let his father go or back him in life again. Through Kristi’s thoughts, we get to see how this situation can affect in someone’s life.
It‘s emotional and touching novel with short stories and poems who come directly from Kristy’s heart. Reading the novel you will be tearing up and back in one piece again. Some verses from the novel:
“This one word,
Has so many meanings,
And reminds me,
Of the life that can be lived,
The things that can be stolen,
The things we have to give.”
From the poem: ”Back”
“Fear calls out my name,
And though I try,
I’m listening,
To its voice,
Ringing high,
Above mine.”
From the poem: ”Need”

The author’s proceeds from January 20th — 29th, 2012 will be donated to the Red Cross.
This book is recommended for ages 12 and up, and does not contain language, drug/alcohol abuse, or sexual content .

My rating for this book:

Interview with Alexandra Lanc:

Me: What do you do to get inspiration?
Alexandra: I get inspiration from a lot of places, but mostly from my friends and family, and the things I see around me. I really try to be observant, and think of what I would like to read. I also keep a dream journal, and I get a lot of great ideas from there!

Me: Tell us about The Firefox Chronicles series and first part of them Shadows of the past memories.
Alexandra:  The Foxfire Chronicles is unlike anything else that I’ve written or read. It’s basically a story about life — though not life on this planet but on another, and the struggles that the characters go through, and what the people must deal with. Shadows of Past Memories starts off the series by introducing the other world and some of the characters from it, and is about two best friends confronting their pasts, one of them learning that she is more than she thought she was, and the other learning that sometimes, you have to be able to let go. It’s a great series full of science-fiction, a bit of old-fashioned horror, romance, fantasy, and quite a few surprises along the way.

Me: How did you come up with the title?

Alexandra:When it came to naming my first Foxfire Chronicles book, I really wanted it to reflect what was going on in the book, so I thought of the book’s main points. SOPM has a lot to do with memories and the past, and so I put those two words together, and the rest simply came to me.

Me:Which character is similar to your own personality?
Alexandra:I think that all of the characters have part of me in them, but the one who reflects my personality the best I think is Reaye. In the first book, she is a bit naive and overly sweet and young, and then she learns to become stronger and more self-assured. When I first wrote the book, I was very much like Reaye is in SOPM, and I think that as time passes, her personality and my personality will become more alike.

Me: The creatures are so realistic. Where you get inspiration for them?

Alexandra:When I went to design the different creatures of the Foxfire Chronicles, I looked to my favorite animals. Probably the most loved (by me) of all of my creatures are the Snakefeh. When designing them, I looked to the Komodo Dragon, quite possibly my favorite lizard, and then added a few snake-like features, so that my creatures fit their name.

Me:What was the hardest thing in the way of writing Shadows of the past memories?

Alexandra:The hardest thing about writing (and finishing) SOPM was that when I started it, I was sixteen, and it was after my big brother was involved in a motorcycle wreck, so my life was completely chaotic, and so was the story. At first, I didn’t plan on publishing it, but then when I realized how much I loved the story and that others would probably love it too, I knew that it needed a lot of editing before it could finally say what I wanted it to say. Seven edits and a lot of hard work later, I ended up with the finished product. And the best part: I dedicated it to my brother!

Me:What are you currently working on?
Alexandra: I have quite a few projects that I’m working on! I’m working on the last finishing touches to my short novella, slated for release on the 23rd, as well as my first fantasy novel “The Ending”, coming out April 4th. I’m also continuing work on my Snowflake Triplet series, as well as the Foxfire Chronicles, and a few other surprises. The next Foxfire Chronicles book, “Shadows at Midnight”, will definitely launch the readers more into the science-fiction/horror side of the series (as well as the more romantic side), and I can’t wait for everyone to read it and all of the other books that I’m working on!

Thank you all for checking out the interview, and a big thank you to Silvana for participating in the tour and all of her hard work on this post!

Yours in Writing,

Thank you, Alexandra!!!

 Plot from author’s page

One, two! One, two! and through and through the vorpal blade went  snicker-snack!”  Blood pounded in Tjaden’s ears as he breathed in the acrid
odor, and his sword didn’t falter.  Not after the convoluted road that had led him to set out alone to find and slay the manxome Jabberwocky.  But the secrets he’d learned about the Jabberwocky’s sorrowful past made it a sour victory. How different would the situation be if the girl he loved wasn’t at risk? Why didn’t anyone tell him the dark secrets surrounding the Tumtum tree?Jabberwocky is a short novel that tells the story behind Lewis Carroll’s epic poem.
Meet the characters and creatures that inhabit the world long before the arrival of Alice.

 My review:

I didn’t know for Jabberwocky –the poem written by Lewis Carroll (shame on me) before I read this book by Daniel Coleman.

Jabberwocky has seven parts like a poem.  New characters new way of story.
The monster attacked, the rumour goes about it. It is true or not? Tjaden and Ollie are best friends and they discuss about that.
Tjaden is a very brave, quiet and he wants to be an elite soldier. He is in love with Elora.
Elora is a young girl who stands by her love no matter of facts.
The story is based of the poem and well developed. There are many battles which  seems to me like a real. The author did good job with a story and characters.
