My review:

Matt Canon the youngest broker in the Wolfe Investments and Wall Street too is in trouble. After a wild bachelor party night in Vegas, he is qualified as a wicked and he starts to lose his clients one by one. So, his bosses the “Sems” give him final demand he must find a girlfriend or he will be fired.

Only one person could help him? But, will she do it?

Hard Sell is the second book from a Wall Street series and I love it so much. I like when the minor character from the first book Matt and Sabrina become the main characters in this one, it’s like I know all of them Lara, Ian, Kate, and Kennedy. After reading this installment I’m looking forward to reading the next one.

Matt is a wonder kid as everyone called him; he is very good with the numbers and the women.

He looks mostly the same as always. Impeccably styled blond hair. Blue eyes that can go from playful to guard in the span of the single breath. His suit’s a dark navy today, the slim silver tie keeping the look modern and sharp…

Sabrina is a strong independent woman who succeeded by herself.

I know. You’re thinking I’m someone who thrives on the other people’s problems.

Sort of.

But I offer them solutions. For a price, yes, but I don’t deal in extortion. I’m upfront with how I work and what they can expect from me from the very beginning. There are no “gotchas” at least from me.

Matt and Sabrina are enemies they hate each other, is it possible that they could be a “thing”.

“It’s not like we’re holding hands and having a sing-along in the street. We’re merely tolerating each other.”

“Sure, she wants me dead. And there were a handful of times I’d have happily strangled her. But counter-intuitively, there was a strange easiness between us, too. Almost as though our mutual wariness of the other person and romantic entanglements frees us up to be our true selves. With each other.”

I like to laugh out loud scenes and phrases like this:

“Where did that phrase come from? Kennedy muses. “Marie Antoinette?”

“No, that’s let them eat cake,” Kate says.” I think have your cake and eat it, too is in reference –“

“Guys,” I interrupt.” A little help here?”

I recommend this book to everyone who wants easy summer read and series fulfilled with romance and from enemies to lover stories.

The Haunting Hattie Hastings I, II, III by Audrey Davis- review

The Haunting of Hattie Hastings Part 3One late night Hattie and Gary come home and tragedy hits them. Gary is dead Hattie is heartbroken and devastated maybe he was driving her crazy still she loves him very much. Cat Hattie’s best friend is near Hattie in the difficult time supporting and consoling her. Only the showing of the spirit of Gary could find the way to back Hattie in the right path however she has another problem to convince the others that Gary is back.

My first impression of the first pages of this book was Come on! It’s supposed to be a romantic comedy how death gets into it but after a few pages and many tears, I understood. Gary past away and I was sad and felt like Hattie because I know how it is to lose someone close.  The pages turned away I laugh so many times. The story went perfectly smooth I liked Hattie and Cat’s friendship also when Gary was showing up the situations were humorous.

When the first part ended I couldn’t hardly wait to read the second part and then the third one. How pages went on the whole situation become interesting and fun with all the characters Hattie, Cat, Gary’s spirit and Hattie’s mother. Every one of them had something to deal with.

This book is for this summer relaxing days fast, fun with emotional edging, when you read it, make sure that you have enough tissues for crying.

Synopsis part three:

Nothing lasts forever … Gary’s time on earth seems to be coming to an end. His visits are less frequent and his visibility is fading fast. But he still has a mission to accomplish, which involves Hattie and her ability to pass on a heart-rending message.

Best friend Cat’s ex-husband is determined to prove that he deserves another chance, but do leopards really change their spots?

Times are tough for Hattie’s mother Rachel, but where there’s life, there’s hope …

Meanwhile, is there someone already in Hattie’s life who can help her move on when it’s finally time to say goodbye?

Get your tissues at the ready – both for laughter and tears – with the final instalment of a trilogy that has been hailed ‘brilliant’, ‘hilarious’, and ‘a great feel-good read’.

About Audrey Davis

audrey

Audrey Davis survived secondary school on the West coast of Scotland. Rubbish at science but not too bad at English, she originally wanted to be an actress but was persuaded that journalism was a safer option. Probably wise. She studied at Napier College in Edinburgh, the only place in Scotland at that time to offer a journalism course.

Her first foray into the hard-nosed newspaper world was as a junior reporter in Dumfriesshire. Duties included interviewing farmers about the prize-winning heifers to reporting on family tragedies. She persuaded her editor to let her launch an entertainment column which meant meeting the odd celebrity – or just the downright odd. From there, she moved to the loftier rank of senior reporter back in her home patch. Slightly more money, fewer farm animals but a higher crime rate. As Taggart would say: ‘There’s been a murrrrder!’

After a stint in London on a video magazine – yes, she is that old – Audrey moved to Singapore with her fiancé. She tried valiantly to embrace the stinking heat, humidity and lack of jobs, although she did work briefly on a magazine which was banned by the government for ‘artistic’ use of naked men’s bottoms.

Next on her adventures was a land Down Under where her main focus was raising Cost Centre One (aka firstborn) and coming to terms with the imminent arrival of Number Two. Still, she loved the Aussie way of life – BBQs, beaches and bring your own booze to restaurants – so it came as a blow when OH announced a move back to the UK. Not a job between them, the climate a possible deal breaker and an Exorcist-style vomiting infant on the flight home didn’t bode well …Always a survivor, Audrey sought out similar-minded friends (i.e. slightly bonkers), got the children into a good school and thought about taking up writing again. Sadly, thinking about it was as far as she got, unless you count shopping lists. Then, hubby drops another bombshell. Switzerland. As in – it’s packing time again. Off to the land of cheese, chocolate, scarily efficient trains and a couple of teeny, tiny issues. Like driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road and speaking a foreign language (French). The former was conquered fairly quickly (we’ll skip over the wall demolition in week two), the latter remains an ongoing battle of the hopeful against the hopeless. At least she provides amusement for the local workforce.
It wasn’t until 2016 that Audrey rediscovered her writing mojo with an online Writing Fiction course. From there, her first novel – A Clean Sweep – was born, although it took a bit longer than nine months from conception. A short, darker prequel – A Clean Break – followed, and in November 2017 she published the first in a novella trilogy, The Haunting of Hattie Hastings Part One. Part Two is published on 21 March 2018, with the conclusion following in July. After which she might have a wee lie down …

My review:

Kendrick Lowry is sheriff in Cottonwood, Kentucky. She fights against crime. Her mother doesn’t make easier for her because she doesn’t approve Kenni’s job. Kenni has a gift to see ghosts. She sees her grandfather ghost and when Poppa ghost shows up the trouble comes. Mama takes part in a cooking contest and she is determined to win because the prize is an episode in the culinary channel with celebrity chef Frank Von Lee who is coming in the town. Her competition is in the next town; Frank should make a decision who to feature on his culinary TV show. Unfortunately, his visit ends with tragedy and on the first day, he drops dead in his hotel room even vicarious doctor Camille can’t save him. And the first suspect is – guess who?

Six Feet Under is the fourth book in the Kenni Lowey series, but it could be read alone. Tonya writes realistic and dramatic stories and has the power to suck the reader into the story. She created the well-plotted cozy mystery with sharp dialogues and compelling main character.

“She‘s been driving herself nuts since got word he was coming. I’ve been with her. She’s not slept. She did that thing to her face.”

The story is vivid and realistic I felt like I knew all those fascinating characters starting with Kenni, Mama, Lulu, Myrna, Finn even Poppa’s ghost. The narration is well-passed and it flows with exciting suspense and puzzle, a little dose of fear. I asked myself what will happen next, who is the murderer, what if… and all that passes engaging me till the end.

Kenni attracts my attention from the first page. Tonya offered crucial insight into Kenni, as the main character, into her personality and background, giving me a detailed clear picture. Kenni impresses me like a person she is an active listener and is aware of others’ reactions and understands why the others react as they do.

“There is something going on with you.” I pointed my finger in a circle around her head. “There’s something wrong with her face.” I turned to Finn. Finn looked at me with a very amused expression. It was one of those curious looks that made my heart flip-flop every time he wore it.

Mama or Vivian Lowry is a stubborn proud woman too sure of herself.

“I’m fine. I wanted to see my competition. And now I know it’s the lack thereof competition. I’m going to win, hands down.” You see! I told you she is self-centered! Mama Lowry wants to talk “her lips never stop moving once.” And that is the reason that her daughter distances from her. But, this isn’t a reason to hate her she is very interesting and entertaining character who is pushing the story straight.

“I was trying to tell you before you rudely interrupted.” Mama pushed back over to me. “I’m sorry,” she said to Finn. “I raised her better than that.”

I highly recommend this book to mystery lovers and to everyone who likes good book packed with suspense and puzzling tickle.

Hannah Fielding bio

Portrait of Hannah Fielding and photos of where she writes.

Hannah Fielding is an incurable romantic. The seeds for her writing career were sown in early childhood, spent in Egypt, when she came to an agreement with her governess Zula: for each fairy story Zula told, Hannah would invent and relate one of her own. Years later – following a degree in French literature, several years of travelling in Europe, falling in love with an Englishman, the arrival of two beautiful children and a career in property development – Hannah decided after so many years of yearning to write that the time was now. Today, she lives the dream: writing full time at her homes in Kent, England, and the South of France, where she dreams up romances overlooking breath-taking views of the Mediterranean.

Hannah is a multi-award-winning novelist, and to date she has published five novels: Burning Embers, ‘romance like Hollywood used to make’, set in Kenya; The Echoes of Love, ‘an epic love story that is beautifully told’, set in Italy; and the Andalusian Nights Trilogy Indiscretion, Masquerade and Legacy – her fieriest novels yet, set in sunny, sultry Spain.

My review:

Luna half Spanish half American gets an undercover job to investigate the controversial work of Doctor Rodrigo Rueda de Calderon. She must go in Spain for that, and the doctor isn’t what she expects to be, a young and attractive man. The attraction is vivid between them but could they cross all secrets and finally find true love?

Legacy is the third book of the Andalucian Nights series and is perfectly written like the other two books. Hannah Fielding doesn’t spare words but genuinely gives us in this perfect story which started in Indiscretion, the first book of this series. This is well written and engaging story, which brings my emotions up and down along with Luna and Rodrigo.

Luna is smart and dedicated to work young woman, who is frightened to give her heart. Rodrigo is a half-gypsy, and his reputation isn’t good, but his charm and humor work like a magnet to Luna.

I like how they met and how slowly get to knowing each other playing hot and cold. The settings, beautiful Cadiz on the Spanish coast makes the story to sound more convenient and more romantic. The house on the beach which Luna rents is fascinating, and it fits very well in the picture of Cadiz.

The whole package which includes the story and the characters is unforgettable, and It will stay in my mind long time.

I recommend Legacy for everyone who likes romance in extremely romantic and exotic settings and for everyone who loves intriguing love story twining with secrets.

My review:

Brook Ogden finally recovers from many downs and her life is in great state, especially her love life. She definitely lives with the love of her life and their two fur friends. Sasha and Stu are good, and they have an adorable baby, who everyone in the family loves. The only thing that is not right is her beloved father’s death.

After Brook’s appearance in one show on the local television her self-esteem and her work life goes on the downward path.  The TV hostess is her frenemy, and it seems that she has the unfinished battles with Brook and she is eager to finish those in the show humiliating Brook in front of the public. Everyone needs Brook’s advice and support, but one person can’t be right just giving without getting anything back.

This is the last book in Breakup Doctor series and it so sad that this is the end of the series. I’ve enjoyed reading previous books about Brook Ogden the therapist for the broken hearts, who herself calls breakup doctor, but it seems that this book is the top. The things go up and suddenly down for Brook. I enjoy reading the book I cry and laugh with Brook. When the death took Brook’s father everyone in the family grief in a different way, and that complicate the things, but family stays together.

Brook is even better than I remember it from the previous books. She is a helpful and compassionate character. In previous books she was funny, and I laugh more, but this time her father’s death gives the story more serious approach. It is wonderful how Brook deals with everything after her father’s lost and her issues with the practice Brook’s faith and enthusiasm decreases day by day, but she isn’t alone, and she has the biggest support ever Ben, Sasha, and Stu, even her nephew helps. I felt all her troubles as they are mine.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to read chick lit novels with a heartwarming story.

My review:

Luz de Rueda was back in Spain after time spent in England. She came there to write the biography of one of the greatest Spanish artists. Luz met Leandro, young and passionate gypsy on her first days in Cadiz. She felt attracted by Leandro, but she knew that he is forbidden to her. Andreas de Calderon was Luz’s employer mysterious and refined man, but he was almost Leandro’s double.

The author’s vivid descriptions bring more joy in reading. I saw Spain in 1976 glistening and enigmatic although I have never been there.  I read all Hannah Fielding’s books and currently reading Legacy the last one in this series and could tell reading her books is a journey. In this book, I found again her talent to inspirit life in the book, and that is the main reason why I want to read more and more.

Luz was a young woman, innocent and inexperienced who wanted to learn about love and passion. Her life when she stepped in Cadiz was a struggle between last, love and secrets.

Leandro and Andreas were so the same and too different. The similarity in their look didn’t mean similarity in their personality.

The story about those three characters will bring you back in the past with such a picturesque and romantic atmosphere and in the same time awoke the feelings about them.

I recommend Masquerade to everyone who loves a good book, which you could read it in any season and any mood.
